The present work concentrates on the Inner, which deals with the nature of the human being. Wallace discusses this topic and its relationship to the larger concepts of the Kalachakratantra's theory and practice. For example, the view of the individual is shown to be inseparable from its view of the universe. The understanding of the person becomes clear only when examined in the light of the tantric yoga practices described in the Other Kalachakra section. Among the topics explored are: the Tantras's integration of different Indian Buddhist and non-Buddhist religious ideas; the parallels between the Buddhist gnosticism and that of the Judeo-Christian tradition; the birth and death of the individual's transmigratory mind and body; the Kalachakra's unique theory of karma and its approach to the nature of mental afflictions--their causes and their relation to karma.
